Neill Blomkamp, the director behind District 9, may also be directing the Halo tv series pilot.
We haven’t heard too much about the upcoming Halo tv series since it was first announced back during the Xbox One unveiling in May, 2013. However, a new insider scoop has said that some major talent (aside from Steven Spielberg who is producing the series) may be coming on board to direct the show’s pilot episode.
According to a new exclusive scoop in Latino Review, Neill Blomkamp, who directed the hit sci-fi film District 9, has been tapped to direct the inaugural pilot episode of the live-action Halo tv series. If this new scoop turns out to be accurate, it won’t be the first time Blomkamp has worked on a Halo project. The director previously did a few live-action promotional shorts for past Halo games and was even in talks to direct the full-length Halo feature film back before the troubled project was put on ice.
Halo fans shouldn’t get too excited until official word comes from Microsoft but having a veteran sci-fi director like Blomkamp attached to the project certainly bodes well for both the series and for Microsoft in general.
