Things are starting to turn around for the Big N.

By looking at the numbers, you could say that 2013 was the year of the 3DS rather than the year of Luigi. The holiday season really helped Nintendo out this year, seeing as though several people bought Nintendo products for gifts. 16+ million digital/physical games were sold in 2013 and the 3DS cavalcade of systems (3DS/3DS XL/2DS) sold more than 11.5 million units in their lifetime.

“Nintendo 3DS is a powerhouse with games and experiences that appeal to all kinds of players,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re not slowing down in 2014. With more games featuring fan-favorite franchises on the way, the best days of Nintendo 3DS are still to come.”

Nintendo doesn’t look to be slowing down in 2014, where the company has some great looking games coming out. Yoshi’s New Island, the sequel to the SNES classic, launches on March 14th. The game has brought back original producer Takeshi Tezuka to work on the project. Disney Magical World has several fan-favorite characters from the Disney Universe. Similar to Disney Infinity where the landscapes are familiar Disney locales, you’ll be able to customize your character with Disney items, while helping characters with their problems. The game launches April 11th on the Nintendo eShop. Finally, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy has several new puzzles for the Layton franchise. The game will have the same difficulty that the series is known for when it launches February 28th in the eShop as well as stores.
