Despite losing a large majority of their equipment in a Christmas Eve flood, developer Hello Games is still going strong.

After making an impressive showing with their new game No Man’s Sky at the VGX 2013 Awards Show, developer Hello Games suffered a major setback when their studio was flooded on Christmas Eve. The developer has remained relatively quiet since the incident, but now the folks at Hello Games have come out to set the record straight.

According to a new update on the developer’s official website, the flood resulted in a painful loss for Hello Games, claiming concept art, office furniture, and virtually all of their computers (even worse, their insurance apparently didn’t cover the damages). However, they also showed a lot of enthusiasm towards keeping development going on No Man’s Sky and that all the support they’ve been given by friends, family, and fans has been much appreciated.

Hello Games is expecting to move into a brand new office (or at least have the old one rebuilt) sometime within the next few months but for now they are based in a new temporary location. They understand that many fans have suggested starting a Kickstarter fund for No Man’s Sky in order to make up for whatever financial setbacks the studio suffered as a result of the flood but Hello Games said that they don’t feel it would be the right direction to take the game in and that they’d much rather fans supported them by purchasing their popular Joe Danger games.

In the face of adversity, Hello Games has proven they’re willing to press on and they’ve promised that development on No Man’s Sky will continue with no foreseeable delays in the game’s release schedule.
