WB has finally dropped a few new hints regarding the upcoming story DLC for Arkham Origins.
After teasing Batman fans to “save the date” earlier this month, WB has made good on their invitation and revealed a not-so-cryptic clue as to what the upcoming story-based DLC for Arkham Origins will be as well as a 2014 release date for the DLC (no surprise there).
If the below image, which WB posted on the official Arkham Origins Facebook page, is any indication, it looks like players will get to explore Wayne Manor proper during the annual “Wayne Foundation Humanitarian of the Year” party and will be pitted against none other than the Ice Man himself; Mr. Freeze. Considering Freeze was never encountered or mentioned in Arkham Origins’ base campaign, this will likely be the first time he and Batman cross paths from a canon standpoint.
Last month (or last year if you want to get technical), Arkham Origins senior producer Ben Mattes confirmed that the story DLC would "focus on one of the most key relationships in Batman canon” and, in terms of gameplay, would be similar in scope to Arkham City’s Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC. The relationship between Freeze and the Dark Knight could certainly be what Mattes is alluding to, but maybe Freeze is just there to be the villain and the “key relationship” will end up involving one of the Caped Crusader’s sidekicks (Robin? Batgirl?).
There’s also the chance that Mr. Freeze’s appearance might mean some chilly new additions to the game’s multiplayer (playable Mr. Freeze anyone?) but we’ll have to wait until WB is ready to reveal more details.
