Naughty Dog has set a clear plan of what they'll be working on in 2014 and it doesn't include any last-minute surprises.
If you were hoping developer Naughty Dog had some secret surprise end-of-the-year reveal waiting in the rafters, you’re in for some disappointment.
Earlier this year, Naughty Dog had some exciting new announcements to share which naturally got fans pretty pumped. These announcements included the unveiling of a brand new game set within the Uncharted series (though their decision to label it with the enigmatic and simple title of “Uncharted” makes it unclear whether it will be a direct sequel or a reboot) as well as details on the previously announced story DLC for The Last of Us (the new “Left Behind” DLC episode will be a prequel story starring Ellie and her friend Riley).
Sadly, the new Uncharted game and DLC for The Last of Us is all Naughty Dog is currently working on according to a new post on the official PlayStation blog from the developer’s Community Strategist Eric Monacelli when he was questioned about the possibility of Naughty Dog working on a PlayStation Vita game. While this may come as bad news for fans who were hoping for a little more from the developer, the silver lining is that their enhanced focus on these two different projects means fans can look forward to a very polished new Uncharted game in the near future as well as several new reasons to hop back into The Last of Us (another multiplayer DLC pack is in the works in addition to Left Behind).
No release date has been announced for either the new Uncharted game (not surprising considering how little Naughty Dog has revealed about the project so far) nor Left Behind or the other Last of Us DLC (Left Behind will likely be released sometime in early 2014 with the second multiplayer DLC following soon after). In the meantime, it looks like Naughty Dog fans will have to be a little patient.
