An intriguing list of possible new game modes for Battlefield 4 has been uncovered. Sadly, the game is still too much of a broken mess to warrant much celebration.

It would seem EA’s newest online shooter Battlefield 4 is in the middle of a good news, bad news situation right now. The good news? A variety of unconfirmed new game modes have been uncovered by inquisitive players. The bad news? The game continues to be a near-unplayable mess for many players on virtually all of its release platforms with a widespread connectivity issue being the latest in a long series of problems plaguing the title.

Searching around in the game’s code, one Battlefield 4 player managed to uncover a list of names relating to a series of new and returning game modes that could be added to Battlefield 4 at a later date (though until EA and DICE speak up, remember that these names alone shouldn’t be taken as confirmation)

1. "TANKSUPERIORITY" - Tank version of Air Superiority introduced in Battlefield 3's Armored Kill DLC

2. "GUNMASTER" - kind of like COD's gun game, Introduced in Close Quarters Battlefield 3 DLC

3. "COMBATMISSION" - A game mode like Rush but with objectives instead of MCOM's, introduced in Medal of Honor.

4. "SQRUSH" - Squad Rush, a game mode featured in Bad Company 2 & Battlefield 3

5. "SCAVENGER" - Scavenge for weapons, introduced in Battlefield 3's Aftermath DLC

6. "SPORT" - Haven't figured this one out yet. (if you think you may know more info PM or quote me)

7. "FIRETEAM_SURVIVOR" - only one life (if you think you may know more info PM or quote me)

8. "ONSLAUGHT" - Co-op Missions game mode, Introduced in Bad Company 2's Onslaught DLC

Sadly, it’s unlikely that players will be seeing any new modes added anytime soon since EA and DICE are still facing a number of big issues affecting Battlefield 4 on multiple platforms. Sever connectivity issues are just the latest problem joining a lengthy list which includes loss of both single-player and multiplayer progress, in-game bugs and crashes, glitches and exploits, and DLC that doesn’t transfer over from current-gen to next-gen consoles (despite EA’s insistence that it should).

Things aren’t looking so good for EA and DICE as player patience has likely been worn pretty thin at this point. It’s tough to say whether or not they’ll be able to repair all of the damage that’s been done to player’s expectations and trust but here’s hoping that if they do, it happens sooner rather than later.
