The elder statesman Kong is gonna show the young apes what he can do.
During what can only be considered one of the worst attempts at online entertainment, Nintendo officially announced that Cranky Kong, the original Kong, will be a playable character in the upcoming game, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. If you couldn’t tell by that sentence, the show was VGX, a re-branded VGA’s. This will be the first time that players will be able to control the crass Kong and have him show the younger Kongs a thing or two. The official release date was also revealed in Nintendo’s spot on VGX and that date is February 21st.
Controlled similarly to Scrooge McDuck, Cranky Kong can bounce on his cane to kill enemies and jump on spikes. The Kong family might actually need Cranky’s help this time when they go toe to toe with the Snowmad Vikings, who have taken over Kong Island. The game brings back the ability to swim and has the game in stunning HD graphics. The game has been delayed since its E3 showing but sometimes that’s a good thing. Had the game not been delayed, Cranky Kong might not have been added as a playable character.
