Many gamers have shown they're willing to pay top-dollar via eBay to get their hands on a next-gen console.

Those looking to get their hands on a snazzy new next-gen game console naturally had many buying options to consider during each console’s respective launch weekend, few being more frequented than popular online auction site eBay. According to some recently released eBay statistics, it looks like Sony’s PlayStation 4 is selling just a tad better than Microsoft’s Xbox One.

An eBay representative recently revealed some startling info regarding the sale of next-gen consoles on the site. During its launch weekend of November 15-17, more than 10,000 PlayStation 4 consoles were sold using eBay while the number of Xbox One units sold during its launch weekend of November 22-24 capped out at about 7,000. This is an especially impressive feat considering the PlayStation 4 is currently only available in North America while the Xbox One is available in 13 different regions worldwide.

Because eBay only deals in the reselling of items, it often means buyers are paying a premium for their purchases. The last reported average price for buying a PS4 via eBay was $590 so one can only imagine what Xbox One consoles are going for. Still, the numbers alone should prove that, for many next-gen fans, having a shiny new next-gen console as soon as possible is worth paying a little extra.
