Sony is currently working on a fix to address disc ejection issues plaguing certain PlayStation 4 consoles.
As if the previously reported “blue light of death” was bad enough, now Sony is hard at work looking into a small yet quickly growing number of reports of PlayStation 4 units that don’t eject game discs when prompted.
According to Sony, no specific cause for the issue has been found at this time but a new post over on the PlayStation forums where affected players can report disc ejection issues has been started. The post asks players to list specific details about the issue such as which game they were trying to eject, whether or not they were trying to install game data from the disc at the time, and if the player tried any other troubleshooting methods before reporting the issue.
Fortunatly, Sony has also confirmed that, at present, the total number of units suffering from disc ejection issues equals about .04% of the total number of shipped units. The company has also provided a handy guide for removing game discs from the PlayStation 4 manually which it encourages players to do while a more permanent fix is worked on.
