The Red Bull Battle Grounds Tournament is the first public event powered by NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPUs with G-SYNC Technology and Shadowplay.
NVIDIA will serve as the official graphics partner for Red Bull Battle Grounds, a marquee Star Craft II competition taking place November 23-24, 2013 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Through this new partnership with Red Bull, NVIDIA will provide its groundbreaking technology G-SYNC and Shadowplay for the tournament, and on an on-going basis, by providing the world’s most advanced gaming technology for Red Bull eSports events.
As the world’s first public gaming tournament powered exclusively by PCs equipped with GeForce GTX 780 Ti GPUs and G-SYNC-enabled monitors, the Red Bull Battle Grounds tournament will feature four of the world’s top competitive professional gamers from previous Red Bull eSports events. Red Bull Battle Grounds 2012 winner Jang ‘MC’ Min Chul returns to face-off against last year’s runner-up Choi ‘Bomber’ Ji Sung, who is hungry for the win after a slow start, but powerful wrap to his year. Red Bull Training Grounds champions Jo ‘Golden’ Myeong Hwan and Jens ‘Snute’ Aasgaard will also be competing. The four players who were qualified and were invited through other tournaments are: North American heroine Sasha ‘Scarlett’ Hostyn, Won ‘PartinG’ Lee, Ko ‘HyuN’ Seok Hyun and BlizzCon 2013 Champion Kim “sOs” Yoo Jin. The ultimate champion of the Red Bull Battle Grounds tournament will walk away with their share of the $50,000 prize pool and a Falcon Northwest TIKI G-SYNC-powered gaming PC, worth more than $3,000.
For hardcore gamers, GeForce GTX is all about delivering a pure gaming experience that is fast, quiet and cool. With the addition of the new G-SYNC technology, gamers can now experience a superior way to game. G-SYNC-enabled monitors offer players a true competitive advantage by providing smoother, sharper on-screen images with faster, more accurate response times for enhanced in-game action, but do so without introducing tearing or the dreaded input lag, the bane of gamers everywhere.
A must-have for pro-gamers everywhere, Shadowplay is NVIDIA’s fast, free and easy-to-use new approach to gameplay recording. Utilizing an on-board encoder built into GeForce GTX 600 and 700 Series graphics cards, it’s an advanced capture tool that shadows every in-game move, making uploading gameplay easier than ever. In addition to the players competing in the tournament, event spectators will have a chance to try G-SYNC and Shadowplay technologies for themselves at the NVIDIA booth located in the main room of the Red Bull Battle Grounds event.
NVIDIA’s partnership with Red Bull eSports brings two players together who aim to elevate eSports competitions, as well as player performance and development. In May 2013, Red Bull eSports launched Redbull.com/eSports, which is a leading digital source for the latest news, tournament coverage, interviews, video features and live digital broadcasts for the eSports community. Red Bull Battle Grounds is the premiere Red Bull eSports tournament event of the year. The first Red Bull Battle Grounds took place at the Austin City Limits concert hall in Austin, TX in 2012.
