Bowling and Tennis available now but you’ll have to wait for the other sports.
Wii Sports Club brings the best of both worlds to the Wii Sports franchise. It brings updated graphics for the classic Wii game and it brings the online play that was missing from the Wii version. Now you can play your friends and family in Bowling or Tennis. You’ll be able to rub a Bowling win or a Tennis win in your brother’s face for months or at least until the next time you play. Tennis and Bowling are the only sports available now but don't worry, Baseball, Boxing, and Golf are coming soon.
Nintendo is releasing each sport as a separate eShop download and players will be able to join clubs for each sport. The clubs will vary on location such as a state club or a local region club team. You can play against members of your club or you can go after rival clubs to raise the ranking of your club. The sports will have Miiverse connectivity so you can send messages to your club-mates. The Miiverse connection should be fun when it comes to trash talking, hopefully tasteful and not vulgar. I’m looking forward to bowling against my brother because we had some crazy bowling matches back at the start of the Wii’s lifespan.
Being able to download one sport at a time could open up new options for players such as new sports that weren’t in the original Wii Sports. I would love to see Wii Sports Hockey or Wii Sports Football that could be played like Baseball. You’ll also be able to train and get better at certain sports and that will help in the long run. You might not be able to score a Turkey in Bowling but with some training, you’ll get there and that could help in a club match. There is a 24 hr. window for first timers to get their feet wet and decide if they want the game.
After that, there will be two purchase options, the Day Pass option and the Club Pass. The Day Pass allows you to play all the available sports for a day and the Club Pass allows unlimited access to one sport with no time limit. Personally, I think the addition of online play is the best part of Wii Sports Club. Now, I don’t have to be in the same room or even the same town/state to play my friends and family in Bowling or the other sports. Should make holiday get-togethers more interesting, especially if you lose to one of your family members and you know family never lets you forget things like that.
