In March it's morphin time!
Synchronous multiplayer game developer nWay, alongside Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), a premier next-generation global content leader, and Saban Brands, creators of the iconic Power Rangers franchise, have revealed the highly anticipated real-time multiplayer fighting game Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, which will be available on iOS and Android devices on Thursday, March 23, one day before the feature film Saban’s Power Rangers hits theaters.
The announcement was made at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco today as game engine developer Unity Technologies showcased Power Rangers: Legacy Wars in a keynote presentation featuring Jason David Frank, the Green Ranger from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series, and Ludi Lin, the Black Ranger from the upcoming feature film. On stage, Frank and Lin showed off their skills by battling head-to-head in-game as their respective characters.
Ludi Lin also told attendees at the keynote to look under their seats where they found a ticket to Saban’s Power Rangers waiting for them. The movie tickets are offered through Atom Tickets (https://www.atomtickets.com), the revolutionary app and website that makes the moviegoing experience fast, easy and social – recommending movies based on preference, enabling invitations to friends and family, and providing the VIP experience of skipping ticket and concessions lines.
As the first video game to feature Power Rangers from Lionsgate’s highly anticipated feature film, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars is the first video game to feature iconic, fan-favorite Rangers and villains from Power Rangers’ 24-year history fighting alongside one another. In the game, the evil space witch Rita Repulsa corrupts the Morphin Grid from within, hoping to destroy the legacy of the Power Rangers forever. Players must take on Rita and the virtual Ranger clones and monsters she’s created by teaming up with Zordon and using Zeo Shards to gain power.
Ahead of the game’s worldwide launch, the action-packed multiplayer game will soft-launch in Brazil and Canada on Thursday, March 2.
