The trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim, a movie set to shatter the visual and technological boundaries of film-making, was released today - and it's nothing less than stunning.

Ever since it's panel at the San Diego Comic Con, Pacific Rim has been poised to strike into the very heart of film-making. But until today, most fans have only heard rumors and whispers as to Guillermo Del Toro's astounding vision. Finally, a trailer has been released - and it is nothing short of extraordinary. This film is destined to test the visual, technological, and cinemagraphic bondaries of film and the trailer is but a small (albeit mighty) glimpse into that vision. We can't wait to see the film on the IMAZ screen for what is sure to be an out of this world experience,

But don't take our word for it - watch the exclusive trailer right here! Pacific Rim rages into theatres July 12, 2013.

The offiical synopsis from Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures reads:
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end.  To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.  But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.  On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.  Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
