Harry Potter author JK Rowling revealed today that she is writing a new movie for Warner Brothers based on her Potter Universe book, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them".

J.K. Rowling, author of the esteemed Harry Potter series, has revealed her involvment behind a new film series based on the Harry Potter universe spinoff book, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. The film will revolve around the ficticious author of the Hogwarts textbook, Newt Scamander, and will be written by none other than Rowling herself in her screenwriting debut.

According to her facebook page, Rowling was approached by Warner Brothers with an idea to make Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them into a movie, but found herself fiercely protective over her fictional universe. "I thought it was a fun idea," said Rowling, "but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of 'Fantastic Beasts', realized by another writer was difficult." Eventually, however, an idea grew within Rowling's mind that she couldn't resist, so she approached Warner Brothers with a pitch of her own.

The film will take place seventy years prior to Harry's journey and begin halfway around the world - on the streets of New York. "[It] is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series," said Rowling, "but an extension of the wizarding world". Readers of the original series will find the same laws and customs of the modern wizarding world, but will have a chance to explore different facets of the extraordinarily rich and complex world that Rowling created. "I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about", concluded Rowling at the end of her statement, "and this is it."
