World Cup Qualifier keeps Team USA on a soccer roll.

EA Sports has predicted that the United States will be victorious over Mexico in next week’s World Cup Qualifier. Utilizing the football engine that will drive FIFA 14, EA Sports was able to simulate the World Cup Qualifier under thesame conditions the teams will face next Tuesday, September 10 in Columbus, Ohio. It was a nail-biter finish, with Mexico coming from behind with a late goal in the second half to the tie the game at 1-1. The comeback was short lived as U.S. forward Jozy Altidore answered back with a late strike to clinch a 2-1 win.

Game Simulation Details:

After a 0-0 stalemate in the early stages of the first half, U.S. captain Clint Dempsey gave the home team the lead in the 36thminute by blasting a goal past Mexican goalkeeper José de Jesús Corona. Coming out of the break, the Mexicans rallied hard and at the 71st minute, Gerado Torrado found a streaking Giovani Dos Santos who buried a shot past U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard to tie the game. Nearing the end of a back-and-forth second half filled with chances from both sides, Altidore smashed a game-winning shot to the near post past a helpless Corona to earn a 2-1 win for the United States.

Scoring Summary:

36’ - Clint Dempsey (Michael Bradley Assist)

71’ - Giovani Dos Santos (Gerardo Torrado Assist)

83’ – Jozy Altidore (Landon Donovan Assist)

FIFA 14 is available for pre-order now on selected platforms at http://www.origin.com and other retailers. FIFA 14 will release in North America on September 24 and the game will be available with the launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in November.
