Battlefield 4 developer DICE recently announced an exciting new feature for aspiring pilots and marksmen.
If you’re one of the many Battlefield 3 players who avoided piloting aircraft like helicopters and jets in multiplayer for fear of embarrassing yourself due to the tricky controls, DICE has some good news for you.
During a recent Q&A session hosted by IGN, the DICE team was asked whether or not Battlefield 4 would feature some sort of helicopter tutorial and DICE’s Lars Gustavsoon did fans one better:
“We’ve definitely heard that people are afraid of getting in there [and using vehicles like helicopters] and that’s not our intent, so what we’ve done is, we’ve added a test range, which allows you to try out all the hardware ahead of time so that if you want to learn to fly a helicopter you can get in there and you can find the settings that work best for you. And then start doing some stunt flights just to feel safe before you go out and get the responsibility of a bunch of other people sitting in your helicopter, so I truly hope that this will help people feel safer about trying out the whole battlefield.”
This is no doubt welcome news for Battlefield fans who wanted to pilot aircraft in Battlefield 3 but who didn’t want to risk the ridicule and/or anger of their fellow players by trying to master the game’s complicated flight controls in the middle of a heated match. Now it looks like players will be able to become expert pilots without ever having to venture into a live online game.
