Some sparse new details have emerged which shed some light on the newest adventure of Halo's Master Chief.
When the new Halo trailer debuted at this year’s E3 conference, fans were both excited and confused; excited to see the return of their beloved Master Chief, but also confused by the lack of a “5” at the end of the game’s “Halo” title (many naturally assumed it was the next entry in the Reclaimer Saga which started with Halo 4). Now, thanks to a new leak, we know a little more about the Master Chief’s newest adventure.
The leak, which apparently came from Microsoft itself, doesn’t reveal too much other than the fact that the game will see Master Chief venturing to a new galaxy and being forced to do battle with evil creatures as he protects a key piece of technology; something I’m sure he’s very used to by now:
“In possession of a mysterious data chip, Petty Officer John-117, aka Master Chief, confronts a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted.”
Little can be gleaned from this brief teaser but it does effectively ratchet up the tension and mystery a bit. Does the part about sentient life being mercilessly hunted imply that Master Chief will have to fight some sort of technology-based foe? When exactly does this game take place within the overarching Halo timeline? How, if at all, does it fit in with the Reclaimer Saga? Will the Covenent be showing up at any point?
We’ll have to wait patiently for the answers to these questions but it’s still nice to know a little more about the Master Chief’s latest adventure. Whenever this new Halo game does debut, be sure to look for it on Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox One console and maybe even on Xbox 360.
