For all those GTA fans out there who thought GTA V on PS4 was too good to be true, turns out you were right.
Excitement amongst PlayStation fans began buzzing wildly yesterday after a tweet from Sony UK supposedly ousted a PS4 version of Grand Theft Auto V. However, both Sony and Rockstar have now confirmed that Sony UK’s tweet misspoke.
It all began when Sony UK responded to a fan who said he was excited for “GTA5 MIAMI” (?!?!) and that he hoped he would be able to play it on his PS4:
@mrxmas123 GTA V is going to be amazing, especially on the PS4! What other games are you looking forward to playing, Norman?
— Sony UK (@SonyUK) August 27, 2013
What must have happened was that whoever’s in charge of the Sony UK Twitter account read the “hopeful about PS4” part and types “PS4” into their response without realizing it. Soon after Rockstar denied the GTA V PS4 rumors later that same day, Sony UK followed up with this tweet apologizing for the typo:
Apologies for the typo about GTA V. It's due for release on PS3 on September 17th.

As disappointed as next-gen Sony fans must be, it’s at least nice to have a definitive answer in regards to GTA V’s appearance on next-gen systems. The game is still set to release on September 17th for both Xbox 360 and PS3.
