Nintendo has updated the official Super Smash Bros. website, confirming both the Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing Villager for the game's 3DS version.
A new daily image on the official Super Smash Bros. website has confirmed that newcomers Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing’s Villager will be making the handheld jump to the game’s 3DS version.
The pair can be seen in the image above sporting the telltale black outlines which Nintendo has previously said helps make characters look more distinctive on the 3DS’s smaller screen. Unfortunately the new image was all Nintendo was willing to share about the reveal and there’s still no new word yet on just how exactly the Wii U and 3DS versions of the new Super Smash Bros. game will interact with each other (thought Nintendo *has* ruled out cross-platform play).
Also, while Nintendo has stated that they want the character rosters for both versions of the game to be identical, series director Masahiro Sakurai isn’t so optimistic as he recently told Kotaku in an interview that: "We're forced into the situation where we may need to reduce some characters to a certain degree, but we're really working hard in order to include as many characters as possible."
While it sounds like Sakurai and his team are doing their best, 3DS players may have to settle for a slightly reduced character roster when the new Super Smash Bros. game is released sometime next year.
