Players who venture into Watch Dogs' futuristic world will not be able to pilot aircraft but they will be able to leave the game's central city.
Ubisoft has unveiled some new details for their upcoming holiday hacker game Watch Dogs which is equal parts good and bad news.
Watch Dogs senior producer Dominic Guay has confirmed that, unlike in other modern open world games like Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row, there will be no drivable aircraft in Watch Dogs, saying that: "We did not feel it was core to the experience we wanted to create."
However, when questioned about whether or not Chicago would be the only in-game locale that protagonist Aiden Pearce would be frequenting, Guay subtly confirmed that players will be able to venture beyond the city’s limits:
"Players will be able to drive any wheeled vehicles, from trucks to motorcycles, or boats. This will allow them to explore the city proper, the rivers, the lake and even beyond the limits of Chicago."
Where else could Aiden possibly go? We’ll have to wait until the game’s holiday release to find out but in the meantime it’s nice to know how Watch Dogs will both limit and not limit the player.
