Square Enix has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will not be ready for release at any point in 2014.
Kingdom Hearts fans where undoubtedly excited when the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 was revealed at this year’s E3 conference. However, it looks like that excitement is going to have to be tempered a bit as the earliest the game will be coming out is 2015.
Kingdom Hearts game director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that a release date for the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 next-gen Kingdom Hearts 3 can’t even be considered at this point as the game is still in the very early stages of development and that there is virtually zero chance Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released in 2014.
Nomura also clarified that, in addition to Kingdom Hearts 3, he and his team are also working on the upcoming Final Fantasy XV and they’re working hard to balance developmental resources between the two titles. Publisher Square Enix made a public statement confirming that Kingdom Hearts 3 will not be released in 2014 after rumors of a Spring, 2014 release began swirling around.
