Xbox One players hoping for a smoother online matchmaking experience will be happy to hear about the system's new "Smart Match" feature.
One subtle yet crucial feature of the Xbox One which Microsoft is slowly drawing more attention to is its innovative new “Smart Match” online multiplayer matchmaking system.

Smart Match will bring a number of new refinements to how the matchmaking of a particular online game works. Since it runs in the background, players are free to utilize other Xbox One system functions such as Skype, internet browsing, and even watching television as they wait for their game to begin. Microsoft says this will help make the wait times more bearable for games with smaller populations or specific game modes that might not be as popular as others.
The system will also prioritize other players on a person’s friends list when matching them up and will even factor in elements such as a given player’s reputation, skill, and location; further ensuring they get matched up with similar players and thus have a better time playing (no more getting matched up against a bunch of second prestige level 50’s when you’re at level 2).
Microsoft has promised more in-depth details on just how Smart Match will accomplish these new marvels tomorrow but in the meantime the online landscape for Xbox One is already looking pretty promising.
