DICE has pulled back the curtain on the new and improved Battlelog experience for their upcoming shooter Battlefield 4.
The Battlelog has become an integral part of the Battlefield series but with the upcoming Battlefield 4, developer DICE is aiming for a whole new level of Battlelog integration.
As can be seen in the above trailer, the Battlefield 4 version of the Battlelog will offer a whole suite of new social and gameplay-enhancing features. Using the free Battlelog mobile app, players will be able to check stats, customize their loadouts, and even browse available servers all from their smartphone or tablet.
Once in the game proper, players will then be able to use their phone or tablet as a secondary “Battlescreen” which will allow them to set custom attack points and markers on a real-time mini-map of the match. A player’s mobile device can also be used to swap weapon loadouts on the fly in the middle of a match and new servers can be selected and joined all without needing to exit the game proper.
The new “Missions” feature allows players to create custom challenges for their friends which are based around in-game objectives such as who can destroy the most vehicles or score the most headshots within a given period. Lastly, the Battlelog will support Geo Leaderboards so players can see who’s the best of the best within their home city, state, country, or continent.
All this and more will be possible using the newly improved Battlelog app when Battlefield 4 releases on October 29 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 and at a later date for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
