As was promised yesterday, Rockstar has revealed a brand new gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto V.

With mere months standing between gamers and the release of Rockstar’s upcoming crime epic Grand Theft Auto V, the developer has released a brand new gameplay trailer to whet player’s appetites and to show off some of the game’s many features.

The trailer does a good job of introducing the game’s three protagonists Franklin, Michael, and Trevor and opens up with an impressive (and fully playable) scene in which Michael rappels down a building, busts in through a window, and kidnaps a hapless civilian while Franklin covers him from an adjoining building with a sniper rifle. Being able to seamlessly switch between Franklin and Michael is as easy as tapping a button and allows for many creative strategies that players can discover.

Switching between characters during their downtime allows players to glimpse in on the routine (and often hilarious) activities that make up their daily lives. A player might switch over to Michael to see him out biking with his overweight son to help him lose weight or Trevor hollering like a maniac as he goats the local police into a full-on high speed chase.

This character-swapping will also be integral during the many heists featured in the game as will deciding how exactly the heist will play out. One example given is when the three protagonists must hold up a large jewelry store. Players can opt to do things quietly; pumping sleeping gas into the store’s vents and then strolling in with gas masks on after all the employees have fallen asleep, or they can simply waltz in brandishing their assault rifles and making a lot of noise.
