If some recent rumors are to be believed, a game sharing feature could be coming to Steam soon.

According to some intriguing new files found buried in the latest Steam beta build by an eagle-eyed NeoGAF user, Steam users might be able to share their purchased games with other users at some point in the near future.

The file doesn’t allude to much; only that a player will be able to designate certain games and add them to their “shared games library” which can then be accessed by other users. If the game’s original owner decides they want to play while another user is playing, the currently-playing user will get an in-game prompt to exit the game.

It’s important to note that at this point Valve hasn’t confirmed or denied anything. The game sharing addition could in fact be a real thing or it could simply be a bit of errant language left in the beta build by accident. If it *is* in fact real however, it could definitely bring several new benefits to the digital games platform such as cutting down on piracy and providing a game’s developer with crucial data on their game’s popularity.
