The 3DS was the best selling platform during the month of May
The Nintendo 3DS continued its strong surge by being the top selling platform in the United States in May. The games make the system and the 3DS sales are a prime example of this. In the beginning of the system’s life, the game library wasn’t the greatest and it wasn’t selling too well. The likes of Donkey Kong and Luigi come to the system with DK Country Returns 3D and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon respectively and the system has a huge month. It’s only going to get better for Nintendo from what they showed at E3 this year. Several first party properties will get the spot light and that will mean big bucks for the big N.
It isn’t just the 3DS that’s going to have strong sales in the future. The Wii U will start to share the glory the 3DS feels now with its post-summer lineup. With the likes of Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the Wii U should be able to get out of the funk its in at the moment. Combine that with the 3DS releases of Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Pokémon X and Y, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Nintendo should make the stockholders very happy.
