The hit strategy earth defense title XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be available on select iOS devices later this week.
Developer 2K Games is bringing their hit reboot of the XCOM franchise over to iOS devices later this week but potential players should be prepared to shell out a bit more than the average mobile game price.
The iOS port of XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be available on the iPad 2 or later, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and fifth generation iPod Touch this Thursday, June 20 for $19.99. All of the single-player features from the game’s PC and console ports will be included and have been painstakingly adapted for the use of touch controls according to 2K. There will be no multiplayer initially but 2K has promised that they will patch in multiplayer support with a free post-launch update.
$19.99 may seem like a steep price for a mobile game but considering the fact that it’s basically a portable version of a fully-fledged triple-A title (and one that got pretty positive reviews I might add) I’m sure there will be plenty of XCOM fans eager to take their strategic alien-fighting adventures wherever they go.
