The first major patch for Undead Labs' State of Decay went live last Friday but not without a few hitches...
Despite being the second-highest selling game on XBLA, Undead Labs’ hit indie title State of Decay isn’t without its problems and the first major patch which they released last Friday seems to be doing more to expound on those problems rather than fix them.
The first major patch for the game was supposed to fix a variety of gameplay and graphical issues but so far a majority of users are reporting an error when trying to install the patch. While the error isn’t affecting every player (some have reported they were able to install the patch without a hitch) it’s certainly wide-spread enough that Undead Labs’ developer “Undead Jeff” (as he’s known on the State of Decay forums) released this statement yesterday:
"First, I want to apologize. This is not acceptable, and you deserve better than this.
Second, we're on the phone with our publisher right now getting everyone mobilized. There's nothing we can do at UL to fix this problem. Once the update has been handed off, the process of getting it to you is something only the Xbox people can handle. So, we're calling in the troops to get going on solving this problem immediately.
Third, although we can't directly fix the problem, you are OUR players, and we'd like you to know we're exploring ways to express our appreciation for your patience.
In the meantime, see "first."
I wanted to let you know what was going on as soon as we had it nailed down. We don't have an ETA on a solution (see "second"). Stay tuned for more information as we get it."
Hopefully the problem with the patch will be resolved sooner rather than later. Meanwhile fans and players have expressed a lot of praise for the developer’s timely response to the issue which can only mean good things for the future of State of Decay.
