Some exciting new features are coming to Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 when it is released later this month.
Wizards of the Coast has revealed some exciting new features for the latest entry in its digital series of Magic: The Gathering games including the long-requested sealed deck format.
Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 will feature the same easy-to-learn interface that appeals to both newcomers and series vets along with a brand new, fully fledge story mode. The story will put players into the shoes of planeswalker Chandra Nalaar in a quest for revenge and will feature both standard battles and tougher mini-boss and boss battles along with cutscenes that help drive the narrative forward.
Various HUD and UI tweaks have also been made including a revamped timer display and a new “attack with all” function that will help players deliver death blows more quickly later in a match. These new improvements will help players navigate the game’s 10 new decks and 16 new puzzles but the biggest draw of Duels 2014 will no-doubt be the new sealed deck format.
For the first time ever in a Duels game, players will be able to construct their own custom decks using the sealed deck format. A variety of different boosters can be used to create these custom decks and a robust deck construction and analysis tool can make the process as simple or as in-depth as players like. Using the tool, players can auto-construct a deck using available cards, make a deck centered around a specific color or card, or just make a deck completely from scratch. The tool also has a “deck strength” meter which provides even more robust information on decks after they are created.
Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 will be available in just a few weeks on June 26 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and iOS/Android mobile devices.
