Several free-to-play MMO games will be making the jump from PC to console with the release of the PlayStation 4 later this year.

Sony has announced that several free-to-play (F2P) massively multiplayer online games will be available on the PlayStation 4 when it is released later this year.

First on the docket is DC Universe Online; originally a subscription-based MMO that went F2P and is actually already available on the PlayStation 3 in addition to PC. For those who don’t know, DCUO allows players to create their own customized heroes and villains and venture through large virtual renditions of Gotham and Metropolis as they fight (or foster) crime alongside famous DC faces like Batman and Lex Luthor.

Next up is Sony Online Entertainment’s ambitious MMO shooter sequel Planetside 2. With three different playable factions, several massive worlds to fight over and control, and a persistent presence of large-scale competitive warfare, Planetside 2 is a FPS fan’s dream come true and now you’ll be able to play it from the comfort of your couch with a controller in your hands.

Lastly there’s Digital Extremes’ fun new space-ninja co-op game Warframe. While not technically an MMO, Warframe does feature fast-paced third-person shooter gameplay as squads of up to four players work together to take down the various A.I. factions that plague the galaxy.

Sony couldn’t confirm whether or not any of these three games would be launch titles for the PS4 but hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
