Nathan Hermanson has been gaming and writing since he was a wee child. For some reason, he always felt the two events were mutually exclusive. Writing was writing and gaming was gaming. When it came time to choose a career, he floundered around before realizing that his two passions could actually be combined. Since then, he has worked on multiple websites, both as a freelance writer and as Editor-in-Chief. Nathan loves point and click adventure games and games that take risks.

Yeah. He's one of those guys.

Grid 2 and its developers, Codemasters, offer a special edition of their game that will blow your mind.

Gaming is a fairly expensive hobby. With consoles anywhere in the range of 200 to 500 dollars, games around 60 dollars a pop, and controllers right around 40 dollars, it can be tough to keep your wallets full. Toss in developers who package together 100 dollar special editions of games that come with all sorts of collectible goodies and you are just asking for trouble.

Those special editions usually come in-game bonuses, figurines, and special art books. They are for the true fans who are willing to plonk down a few extra bucks for physical proof of their love for the series.

Codemasters, developers of the upcoming racing title Grid 2, are fair in assuming that their fans like cars. And much like any other developer, they would love to offer a special edition for their game as well.

They just decided to make things a little bit more interesting.

Codemasters announced the Grid 2 Mono Edition today that will set you back $190,000.

Why might you ask?

It comes with the game. A PS3. And... a car.

Yes.

A car. More specifically... the BAC Mono pictured below.

Gamers who decide to make the plunge for the Mono Edition will also be treated to a full set of racing gear (helmet, gloves, boots, race suit), a day at the BAC car factory (to customize their new BAC Mono), and of course Grid 2.

Codemasters has officially broken a Guiness World Record and, simultaneously, gamer's minds. They see the product as an opportunity to truly blur the line between gaming and reality.

“BAC is immensely proud and excited at the release of GRID 2: Mono Edition; a game which offers an opportunity for one lucky person to own a truly unique supercar,” said Neill Briggs, Project Director, BAC Mono. “Codemasters has developed a stunning game which focuses on delivering the ultimate driving experience and Mono is the ultimate expression of this, in both the real and virtual worlds.”

Grid 2 is set to release next Friday, May 21st.
