It would appear that Sony had a good Black Friday shopping season. The sales of their consoles increased from the previous year. Like every Black Friday, the big ticket items sold old pretty quick which was the case with the Ultimate PlayStation Value Bundle, which included a 250GB PS3 and the Uncharted Dual Pack and inFAMOUS Collection for $199. . More than 525,000 PS3 consoles were sold in the US during the Black Friday week. It wasn't just the United States where Sony had success selling their product. In Latin America, gamers were able to enjoy various offers across participating local retailers, resulting in a year-over-year sales growth increase of 200%.
“We’re very pleased with the Black Friday sales results, especially the incredible reception for the PS3 and PS Vita bundles. The demand was very strong which quickly depleted our inventory across retailers nationwide,” said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “The PlayStation brand generated significant revenue and year-over-year growth at retail because of our focus on what gamers love most in combining amazing hardware with great games and digital entertainment.”
The Sony subscription service, Playstation Plus, also saw an increase this Black Friday season. For those who don't know, Playstation Plus is a service that gives gamers access to 18" instant game collection" games that range from the PS3 and Vita, discounts, and beta access. It appears that Sony made out pretty well during the Thanksgiving shopping season. It appears that Sony doesn't have plans of slowing down during the Christmas holiday shopping season by releasing holiday bundles PlayStation® 3 500GB Assassin’s Creed III, and the PlayStation® 3 Uncharted 3 Game of the Year set. The holidays always get the A-game of companies and looks like Sony is no different.
