News out of Nintendo today will shake up two office branches in the heart of the big N empire. A shuffling of office bodies might be just what the doctor ordered to help the Wii U and its sales, which is the worst kept secret in the world. For those still in the dark, the Wii U sales could be better. It looks like the Wii U is going to take the same path as the 3DS, start out slow with little game library and then hit its stride and blow the doors off the competition. Anyway, let’s get on with what actually went down today and who has to sell their house.
Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Japan are the two branches of Nintendo that are affected the most by the shuffling. The Chairman of Nintendo of America, Tatsumi Kimishima, will get a promotion and with said promotion a new life in Kyoto, Japan. He becomes the new general manager of Corporate Analysis and Administration, and general manager of the General Affairs Division. Since the two who held these positions are both retiring, it seemed like the logical time to promote Kimishima, who doesn’t have to take over these new responsibilities until the Summer. He will also assume the role of NCL managing director
What will become of his old responsibilities as CEO/chairman at Nintendo of America in Washington? Well, you don’t have to look too far for the new CEO. You might have seen him in the most recent Nintendo Direct. No not Mario, but good guess. It’s Mr. Satoru Iwata. The company is trying to have a global plan and putting the Global President in as the CEO helps that. But what about our boy, Reggie Fils-Aime? Well, not to worry, he will be staying onboard as President and COO at Nintendo of America, but now Iwata is his boss. Only time will tell how that goes but one would think this is a good thing for Nintendo.
