Chichuki Plays Echoes of the Unread

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Echoes of the Unread on Steam.

Echoes of the Unread is an interesting Metrodivania adventure game. You play the role of Rhapsody who fell asleep in the library. When she comes to, the place has come to life with excitement. Will she be able to make her way through the place?

In Metroidvanias, you'll have to find equipment to help you in your quest. One of the first things you come across is Rhapsody's voice. You'll need that stun certain enemies as well as activate switches. Another interesting feature is the fact that water is your health. You'll come across water fountains to refill HP as well as other water sources to replenish.

One my biggest issues with Echoes of the Unread is the map ingame. You can't really tell what anything is on the map. It doesn't make the game unplayable but does make exploration and backtracking a little tougher. Another minor issue was that the jumping felt a little floaty and the controls could have been a little tighter. There were times when I would take damage from an enemy because my input was well, inputted wrong.

Echoes of the Unread has charm and I really enjoy the story. An adventure with different story locations fits a Metroidvania. I would love for this game to come to consoles like the Switch eShop.
