It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos on The Nintendo Switch 2. I guess Croc 2: Electric Crocaloo didn't roll off the tongue as well but iA digress.
Croc is back and he brough all his charm with him for the sequel. In Croc 2, you play as your favorite green crocodile as he tries to help the Gobbos. That could range from finding a certain amount of something in a level or finding lost food. It could also be as simple as jumping into the driver seat of a speedboat and kicking ass during the boat race. You'll also have to keep an eye out for gems in levels so you can buy things from Swap Meet Pete at his store. These items will help you in stages so buy them when you can. One time, I needed a red inner tube to help jump higher and another time, I needed a green inner tube to jump multiple times. I think these things are inner tubes but if not, I'm sorry for that.
The game also has built in achievements that you can complete. These are simple tasks to do while playing the game and added more things to do. It gives completionists something else to do. At the start of the game, you get a choice to pick the difficulty. Those range from the original game, the PC version, or new adjustments for the modern game you're currently playing. One of the cooler things added to the game is the Croc2pedia. This is where you can see all kinds of behind-the-scenes information from the devs. You'll get to see unused images and art for the game as well as interviews with the dev team. I also like to see PR material like advertisement art and commercials. It shows how much thought went into the game. I believe Croc 1 had the same thing with the Crocpedia.
Controls and platforming could be better. I found myself having a tough time judging distance on jumps and sliding for no reason. I do like the fact that Croc has a sidestep in his arsenal.
