It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Midnight Souls on Steam.
Let me start out by saying that Midnight Souls was nothing like I was expecting it to be. It has some of the best sprite work I have seen and that's saying something. It's also an interesting idea with so many ideas put together.
You start out by traveling to your online girlfriend's town to meet her for the first time and right off the bat, you can tell something is off. You get a nice taste of the town by doing all kinds of fetch quests. You need a bottle of vodka, but you have to find five empty bottles to trade for a full one. You also have to help an old lady water her flowers as well as find a crowbar to open the sewers for another gentleman. The point of getting the liquor was to give it to a guy who for some reason is hanging out at your GF's place. You sit down and have a drink with this guy which turns into a drinking mini game where you have to stay sober and get this guy to trust you. He tells you not to meet up with your lady at midnight, but you don't listen and it all hits the fan.
You also have to deal with some tough customers as well as wild dogs. If you expected that to turn into an RPG turn based fight, you win the prize. It feels like it's too many genres, but Midnight Souls makes it work!
