Original Soundtrack Revealed for Edge of Memories

NACON and Midgar Studio are pleased to reveal five tracks from the original soundtrack of Edge of Memories, the French-made JRPG composed by Cédric Menendez, with contributions from several renowned artists. Published by Wayô Records, a French label founded by professionals from the Japanese entertainment industry, the Discovery Edition EP is now available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Deezer, and Apple Music: https://linktr.ee/EdgeOfMemories.

Alongside Cédric Menendez’s compositions, the Edge of Memories soundtrack is further enriched by contributions from several acclaimed artists. Composer Mariam Abounnasr (Xenoblade Chronicles 3 / ONINAKI) composed four tracks, while composer Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger / Xenogears) created the final theme. Vocalists Emi Evans (NieR / NieR: Automata) and Marion Schneider (Edge of Eternity / Temtem) also lend their voices to several pieces.

With his compositions, Cédric Menendez pays tribute to the legacy of JRPGs while infusing them with his own musical signature. Through his music, he explores the game’s themes: the exodus of peoples, a world struck by disease, the search for origins, and adaptation to an ever-changing environment.

Composing the original soundtrack for Edge of Memories has been a true pleasure for me as a JRPG enthusiast. Translating the game’s strong themes into music was an exciting challenge. To me, music is above all an amplifier of emotions: in a game, it must accompany every moment — whether exploration, cutscenes, or combat — in order to convey a wide range of feelings and fully immerse the player in the universe.

By layering compositions, the music can evolve naturally from one scene to another—for example, when a confrontation begins and ends. The goal is for it to support the story and remain in harmony with the narrative, its world, and its characters. Collaborating with talented artists who have worked on iconic titles in the genre has also enriched the overall soundtrack,” said Cédric Menendez, composer at Midgar Studio.

Passionate about music and video games since childhood, Cédric Menendez quickly pursued studies in musicology. After several years performing on stage with various bands across multiple genres, he joined Midgar Studio in 2010 and contributed to the studio’s first production, Hover, whose soundtrack also includes two tracks by composer Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio). He then composed the soundtrack for Edge of Eternity, followed by Edge of Memories.
