Chichuki Plays Hamstermind

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Hamstermind on Steam. Fans of puzzle games will want to check this one out.

We play the role of Hamster Jones, renowned archeologist, who one day gets a delivery sent to his office. It turns out that the package contains Charaon, cat monster, who is seeking the greatest mind to go toe to toe with in a battle of wits. Thus, the battle of brains begins inside the Pyramid of Charaon.

The puzzles in the game range from simple to "pull your hair out" tough so keep your thinking cap on. If you have attempted a puzzle with sliding tiles, you know how the puzzles work in Hamstermind. You have to rotate the pieces to give you the right path to escape each section. There will also be other puzzles to solve throughout the adventure. You will have to solve the puzzles from the gage in the level to free the golden beetle. Along the way, you'll find a notebook as well as notebook pages that will help you on your journey. You'll also find hits for puzzles as hieroglyphs that you can keep in your notebook. Those are puzzles too and need to be deciphered. There are secret passages in the pyramid as well and you guessed it, need puzzles solved to open them. These secret passages will let you skip ahead a little bit in the pyramid, but you can always go back to where you were via the elevator. I found some of the beetle puzzle challenges the toughest in my playthorugh. I do like that you can unlock new outfits for Hamster Jones. I also found myself really enjoying the writing and the character development.

Fans of puzzle games will want to give Hamstermind a look. This game is already better than the last few Indiana Jones movies!
