This Way Madness Lies: Chichuki Plays

This time were playing This Way Madness Lies for the Nintendo Switch. If you have ever wanted to combine the works of Shakespeare with Magical girls, then this is the game for you. I first heard about this game during the Limited Run E3 presentation during the summer and it struck something with me. I love turn based RPGs and This Way Madness Lies does it in a fun, charming way. You are the player but the characters interact with you and treat you like one of the players in the universe. To make a better point, the world is a play and everyone is the players. I love the idea of there being able to change the "ye olde English" of the time to a more modern feel. The game also looks and feels like a retro Super Nintendo game and is so fun to play. There are funny jokes as well as charming moments where you get to know the characters. It's also fun to wail on an enemy with a Unity attack in battle. The group is in high school and is part of the drama club. The Shakespeare aspect doesn't feel misplaced since you hear about most of it in English Lit class or in the theater. This Way Madness Lies is shaping up to be one of my games of 2023 and that's saying something! I'd like to thank the folks at Zeboyd Digital Entertainment LLC for the review code. AS well as the modern translation of Shakespeare! Make sure you check out the Chichuki Plays video below for hands-on thoughts and opinions about the game.
