This time around I'm checking out the Life of A Magical Circle on Steam. The game has a slight cross between Space Invaders and Pac-Man by how it looks and plays. Collecting the different circles feels like Pac-Man whereas the screen moving and the enemy movements feel like Space Invaders. It is a Narrative Roguelite where for some reason, my first few plays didn't have a narrator. It was also hard to tell what you were actually supposed to do in the game. Collect circles and dodge squares and triangles. But if it wasn't for a few nudges from the narrator, there would be no guidance what so ever. That isn't a bad thing but the loose controls are a bad thing. If the game wants me to make precise moves, then the controls need to follow that. Life of a Magical Circle doesn't do that. You can lower the sensitivity of the controls but that should have a good feel before you have to do that. The music sets the tone very well in addition to the narrator having a voice that fits the mood. Sometimes he will sound like he agrees with your actions and other times there will be a snide comment. I'm giving the game a 7.5/10 and I'd like to thank the devs at Solideo for the review code.Make sure you check out the Chichuki Plays video below for hands-on and my thoughts about the game.
