It's that time again for another episode of Chichuki Views. This time on the show, we're checking out Alterium Shift, a game that pays homage to classic old school RPG's. Fans of classic SNES RPG's like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG will be in heaven with Alterium Shift. I was lucky enough to play it at PAX East and loved the game. You could tell that the team working on it really care about the project. You can play as one of three main characters. I picked Pyra to play with and really enjoyed playing with her. A nice touch the game has is that you can start a new story with a different character and there are seperate save slots for each character. Not having to finish the game before playing a different character is a great idea. It gives you the chance to play as Sage and Atlas too since these characters have different play styles.
Alterium Shift gets a bonus point from me because there's fishing. When I played the demo at PAX East, I had no idea how to fish but it feels like it was simplified in the Early Access build and it's much easier to do. There were some minor graphical issues but you have to remember, it's an early access build so those issues are going to pop up. It would be nice to have a quest log to see what you have to do for said quests. I believe I spoke with a dev at PAX East and they said they were going to put that in the game. This and a map of the world would be nice additions to the game. Graphically, it looks and sounds great. If you told me this was a game from the SNES era, I'd believe it. I really liked the facial expressions the characters make as it reminds me of Final Fantasy 6. I really can't wait to see what Alterium Shift looks iike in the final build as well as playing it on Nintendo Switch. I'd like to thank Drattzy Games/Gravity Game Arise/Gravity Indie Games for the early access code. Make sure you check out the Chichuki Views episode below to see hands-on/opinions about the game as well as gameplay from about the first two hours of the game.
