B.I.O.T.A. Hands-On/Thoughts

I recenly got my hands on a review code from the folks at small bros and Retrovibe for their metroidvania-styled game, B.I.O.T.A. In the game, the mining facility your team is stationed at is overrun with an alien plague, causing it to be full of mutants. You don't have to handle the plague alone as you get the choice to play as different characters, each with their own skills. For example, one has a stronger gun to use whereas one comes with healing items from the start. You'll have to find out who's a better option for survival. While exploring the vast underground you will discover things you won't be able to do at the current moment, thus the metroidvania aspect. You'll find fuel for a tank but you can't buy the fuel yet since you can't afford it. You will have to travese the land to find more currence but thankfully the map puts icons where important things are so you won't have to remember where they are. B.I.O.T.A. takes a little getting used to but one of my biggest issues with it is that it forces you to jump blindly at times. That and screen transitions when you shouldn't get hit but the screen forces you to take damage. Try to remember what the next screen has in store for you and that should be avoided.Check out my hands-on/thoughts video below to see more info on why I'm giving B.I.O.T.A. on Steam an 8.5/10.
