If you like hamsters and outer space, then you will be in for a real treat. I recently received a review code from the folks at Plug In Digital Games for their space-venture, Pompom: The Great Space Rescue. Pompom, the hamster, has to save his owner Hoshi after he finds gems that belong to the space pirate kitties. That being said, the game plays similarly to the Mario VS Donkey Kong series where the character, in this case Pompom, moves around and you place objects around him. You will have to think fast as the action comes quickly and you can only freeze the action for so long. You're able to stop time and that allows you to think about where you want to place blocks or springs so Pompom can jump on them. This game is pretty tough but you're allowed to slip up here and there and if you do, Pompom gets stuck in a bubble. That bubble moves where your curser goes but the bubble will pop after a little while so get to where you want Pompom to go quickly. One of the more interesting aspects is the boss fights as again, you'll have to think quickly on where you want to place objects so Pompom can use them to jump on the space pirate kitty boss. For more, check out my hands-on/thoughts video below to see why I'm giving Pompom: The Great Space Rescue on Steam an 8.5/10.
