I recently received a review code from Route 59 Games for their game, Necrobarista. Long story short, the game takes place in a coffee house and the patrons of said coffee house are people who have recently passed away. I think that's an interesting idea for a graphic novel-like game. The owner of the Terminal, Maddy, has a certain charm about her and she doesn't seem to mind too much that her job is barista for the dead. During the gameplay, it felt like I was actually in the coffee house as the characters really meshed well with eachother as well as the writing being very well done. There were moments where Maddy and Chay, her former boss, were having a talk and then they both zing eachother with really shows how they care for eachother. It's nice to see good character development in genres that really want you to get to know characters like in graphic novels. The only real issue I saw was during the intermissions between episodes. The game plays in episodes and breaks up the action. You have memories to find throughout the Terminal but when you do find a memory, the substance of the memory kind of kills the mood of the break. If extra features are the only issue I have with the game, then Necrobarista is a winner. It's these reasons that I'm giving Necrobarista for the Switch an 8.5/10.
