I was able to stop by the Big Sir Games booth and get hands on time with their game, Cosmo’s Quickstop. In the game, you play as Morvin, the alien, who is tasked with running a space-side truck stop, sounds simple enough right? Well, it’s a lot tougher than it sounds. You have four ship bays to keep an eye on and each bay has something different to keep track of. One bay could have a ship that needs gas and a washing. Bay two on the other hand could have a guest lost and needs directions. Bay three could need the vending machine restocked and so on.
Along the timed quest, you will have to clean the restroom for alien guests to use and drive the Quickstop, dodging meteors along the way. The control scheme for the meteor dodging is simplistic and it needs to be when you’re timed and have to do things as quick as possible. You’ll be able to combine tasks on the same ship bay for more money and that’s key, making a profit. However, if you make mistakes or run out of time on each customer, they will leave the ship bay, not getting their service and not paying. You want to make money and perform the tasks quickly to get more aliens into the Quickstop.
The further along you get in the game’s campaign mode, the tougher it will get as you will have to deal with more ship bays and more customers. However, you will be able to play in local co-op mode so get your friend to help run your gas station! The action comes quickly so you will have to be on your toes to make sure all the customers get service so you get that sweet, sweet money!
Graphically, Cosmo’s Quickstop looks like a lovely, comical jump into the “run my own space truck stop game.” Having to run around and keep everyone happy and make sure everything runs smoothly keeps the player on their toes. It was tough to satisfy everyone that came into the Quickstop during the hands on as more and more alien customers kept coming, I guess word got around that my Quickstop was the place to be!
