During Pax East, I stopped by the Silver Dollar Games booth to see their game, One Finger Death Punch 2. The question of why wasn’t it named Two Finger Death Punch was brought up in passing and the developer said he wanted to but his brother wanted to call it One Finger Death Punch 2 and he let his brother have this one. Now that that trip down memory lane is done, on to the game!
One Finger Death Punch 2 plays like a flash game and that’s exactly what the developers wanted. They want you to take some time to play the game but they don’t want the game to take all your time. One Finger Death Punch 2 stars your character, the white outline guy, that’s quick on his feet and will need to be as he’s getting attacked from both sides during each stage. Controls are simple as you have two buttons to use for attacks. Once you realize that you don’t need to hit the button in the middle of the attack meter and you can push it anytime, you will be attacking the enemies in no time flat.
The charging groups of enemies do other things besides running at you. They throw weapons at you and you’ll have to block them or catch them and throw them back at the enemies. You can also dodge attacks and weapons that come at you too. Some enemies that you come across will need multiple hits and will switch from the right side to the left side and vice versa so be on guard for that. You will be able to attack with swords and other weapons as well as while riding on a horse!
While playing, you will feel like you’re starring in an old school Kung Fu movie complete with the over-the-top action. Simplistic, fun controls make for a quick time that you won’t want to put down as the action is quick and you’ll want to get perfect for each stage!
