I was able to schedule some time with the friendly folks at the Bandai Namco booth and was able to get some hands on time with Bless Unleashed for the Xbox One. Bless Unleashed will be a free-to-play MMORPG that will be the first time Bandai Namco attempts one. It will release on the Xbox One X to make sure everything is perfected in the art of free-to-play MMORPG and will come to other consoles at a later date.
During the show demo, Bandai Namco wanted its players to take on the boss monster in the fastest time possible. They were giving out swag by the amount of time/things you did in the demo such as defeat the boss, get a t-shirt, things like that. Anyway, Bless Unleashed looks fantastic as it is built on the Unreal Engine. You will have to deal with monster battles as well as mythical beast battles if you want to survive the various lands!
The control scheme for the game is really simple and that usually isn’t the case in MMORPG’s like Bless Unleashed. You’ll be able to perform basic attacks, strong attacks as well as combo moves. Each race of character plays differently as there are five different races to choose from. You might rely on magic or rely on range attacks or you might be the strongest race around and kick some ass when you go into battle.
However, know your strengths and weaknesses before jumping into a fight because if you don’t, it’s going to be a long fight. For example, know if your character is slow so you can dodge attacks easily. My favorite was the Berserker because they’re strong attackers and can move pretty quickly when needed. You’ll also be able to equip items to a “quick” use button similar to the likes of Dark Souls where you can press a button and use the item, rather than going into the menu to use it. This is beneficial for healing when you’re in battle and you can’t afford to break stride or concentration!
You’ll be able to customize your character for the long journey ahead and make them look the way you want them to. Be mindful that what you put on your character might affect other unseen things for your character like movement. You’ll also be able to partake in player vs player mode so you’ll have to be on guard for that as well as questing in the open world where mythical beasts roam. Bless Unleashed looks like a real winner from Bandai Namco and any MMORPG fan would be crazy not to give it a look!
