Next up during Pax East was a stop at the Ysbryd booth, which was showing off a couple of interesting point and click style games. The games I’m referring to are World of Horror and Cyberpunk Bartender Action N1RV Ann-A, two games that have similar controls but play very differently so let’s get right into it!
First up is World of Horror, a game that reminds me a point and click old school computer game as well as a “choose your own adventure” book. The black and white illustrations play into the horror aspect of the game and add to the spooky factor. Demons are messing with the townsfolk and its up to you to find out why or discover the best possible outcome in the story. The game also has RPG like elements where you battle through problems/demons you discover along the way. That could range from people you find in the town to something possessed by supernatural forces. You will also discover weapons and items during your exploration and those could be the different between life and death. You could find a baseball bat that is a little more powerful than your prior weapon and you might need that extra power! It reminds me of a “choose your own adventure” book because you get to pick your outcome during certain situations as well as performing certain tasks during gameplay. It will be interesting to see just how horror filled the final game really is.
Next up is Cyberpunk Bartender Action N1RV Ann-A, a sequel to Cyberpunk Bartender Action Va-11 Hall –A. The game takes place in the tourist area of Saint Alicia where not everything is what it seems. You play the role of the charming, charismatic, cute bartender Sam who mixes drinks and has the sympathetic ear that the patrons at the bar need. In the demo, you serve Parka her first drinks during her first trip to a bar and its interesting how the game suggests drink options. Parka has never been to bar so it suggests light drinks to start and then you get to know Parka’s story, which is a little twisted for a erotic comic writer/artist. (All your getting from me on that) It’s also interesting that you actually get to be a bartender in terms of mixing drinks with real life ingredients and it shows Sam shaking the drinks. I’m looking forward to seeing if things change the more drinks characters get served or if the seedy underbelly comes into play, and I’m sure it will.
If a horror game or being a bartender mixing drinks for an interesting crowd is your style, Ysbryd Games has the games you want to keep an eye out for!
