Quick Gift Guide 2017

We’re getting down to the wire here and if you’re like me, you’ve waiting until the last minute to get your Christmas shopping done. Fear not, this is where I can be of service and give you some last minute gift ideas for the game player on your list.

You should be able to get your hands on a Nintendo Switch system, which has surprised pretty much everyone who wasn’t in Nintendo’s corner this year. The system has the Game of the Year in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, complete with DLC, Super Mario Odyssey which was also up for Game of the Year with LOZ, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Splatoon 2, and many more great games. This has been a great year for Nintendo and you can throw in the Super Nintendo Classic Edition that fans, like myself waited overnight outside stores for to get their hands on when it released in September. The Classic Edition will bring the nostalgia factor out of people with help from Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, and Star Fox. The main selling point of the Classic Edition was being able to play Star Fox 2 for the first time ever.

Virtual Reality is all the rage lately and PlayStation is trying to cash in with their PSVR again this year. If you have a PlayStation 4, you might want to try and grab a PSVR because at various retailers it’s getting put on sale. It looks like it didn’t take at the start of the VR boom but there will be quite a few VR games to look forward to in the new year, like Moss, so keep an eye out for that. There are two VR games that you’ll want to grab it you get a PSVR this Christmas, VR Karts and Radial-G. VR Karts feels like a Virtual Reality Mario Kart where you’ll be able to customize your own kart and play against players online. Like in most racing games, you’ll also have the option to customize your racer so make sure you make your racer look really cool! The other VR game is called Radial-G and it’s all about anti-gravity racing. This game has the look and feel of F-Zero and this is the only way I’ll allow playing F-Zero since I’ve never been much of a fan. However, Radial-G is built for VR racing fun with creative weapons, crazy off-the-wall tracks and online multiplayer. It’s everything you’d want to do in a racing game with a VR twist.

Pokémon games are all the rage as well as the Pokémon toys that are available as well. Gold and Silver versions are available on the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are the newest games made for the 3DS. The toys I’m referring to are from the Mega Construx Company that has quite a few figures and battle play-sets to choose from. I’d recommend the Squirtle VS Charmander set because Squritle has always been my favorite Pokémon since the Red and Blue version days! If you’re shopping for a younger audience, I’d recommend Ben 10 for the Nintendo Switch. The game is inspired by the cartoon on the Cartoon Network and allows players to play as Ben’s alien transformations. The game is also available for other platforms other than Switch.

You can also choose from several DVD’s for the good boys and girls! Pokémon seasons, Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon Crystal, Hunter X Hunter, One Punch Man, and many more! The box sets of Pokémon don’t have a Blu-Ray box set except for the Indigo League at the time of posting this so in due time expect more Blu-Ray sets for the series. The other box sets have Blu-Rays for the individual series and usually have special inserts and extras the standard sets don’t so keep that in mind!
