Ashen announced during Microsofts's E3 Press Briefing

As announced at the Microsoft’s Xbox E3 briefing, Ashen, an action role-playing indie game, will be coming to Xbox One and PC in 2018. Ashen is being developed by New Zealand-based Aurora44 and published by Annapurna Interactive, the publisher behind the recent critically acclaimed What Remains of Edith Finch.

Ashen is an action RPG about a wanderer in search of a place to call home. This is a world where nothing lasts, no matter how tightly players cling to it. As a co-op adventure game, players may cross paths with one another and choose to guide those they trust to their camp, encouraging them to rest at the fire and perhaps remain. At its core, Ashen is about forging relationships; people players meet out in the world will have unique skills and crafting abilities to bolster chances of survival.

Annapurna Interactive is the new division of Annapurna Pictures, the production studio behind Zero Dark Thirty, Her and Sausage Party, dedicated to producing and publishing games. Ashen is the latest addition to the Annapurna Interactive family, which currently includes What Remains of Edith Finch (recently launched in April), Gorogoa (Summer 2017), Donut County and The Artful Escape.
